This course covers in detail how statistics and administrative data are used in policy making, monitoring and evaluation. Initially, data-driven policy making and evaluation processes are introduced, followed by an emphasis on the role of statistics and administrative data in policy analysis. It explains how data collection processes can be supported by tools such as modelling. It focuses on the role of statistics and administrative data in performance monitoring, impact assessment and monitoring of policy outcomes. Active participation of participants is ensured through practical exercises and interactive Q&A sessions. Practical demonstrations on data presentation and visualisation are given to address effective reporting techniques for policy makers. Finally, challenges such as lack of data, security and ethical issues are discussed and future trends in data-driven policy making are addressed.
